Extremely fine antique Bakhtiari rug with an oval medallion design in black. There are four smaller medallions: one in burnt orange, one in ivory, one in brown, and the smallest in coral shades. This pattern, perhaps inspired by Transylvanian design, is detailed with many ornaments such as leaves, carnations, and rosette flowers, as well as the tree of life and stars. The four beautiful corners of this rug in creamy ivory have a unique feature: two are decorated with leaves in dark blue, and two in green! This rug is truly one of a kind! The rug is framed with three main borders, two in blue, and one in burnt orange.
This rug is in very good condition with no restorations. One end has been reinforced with threads for longevity and the sides were left alone in original condition to preserve their novelty. Dyes are natural and wool is very high quality, hand spun with a very high knot count. Estimated time to hand knot this rug is about 1100 hours.
