A great example of a Farahan rug, decorated with a huge medallion in pale green on a navy blue ground. The four corners of the rug in light orange depict a tree of life pattern adjacent to a tan guard border and a navy main border. The shape of the medallion appears to be a maple leaf decorated with eight leaves inside surrounding a square shape. The design within the medallion as well as the entire rug design are inspired by nature.
All dyes used to make this antique Farahan are organic and the wool is hand spun. There are several professional restorations throughout this rug. All sides and ends are original. The rug is evenly low pile and wear is consistent with the age and use. The time required to hand knot this rug is about 1000 hours!
