This magnificent antique Royal Sarouk features a rich maroon field, framed by a deep navy main border and enclosed by two sets of triple guard borders. At the heart of the design lies an intricate centerpiece: four floral bouquets gracefully encircling a sunflower. The field is adorned with delicate tendrils, blossoms, and a striking Tree of Life motif, woven in shades of red, indigo, mustard, and light green.
In contrast to the floral field, the deep blue border stands out with meticulously detailed filigree rosettes. The rug shows wear consistent with its age and use, with some areas worn down to the foundation. Expertly woven with exceptionally fine knots, this Sarouk is crafted from well-pounded, hand-spun wool dyed with natural pigments. Remarkably, the original ends and sides remain intact. The estimated time to hand-knot this masterpiece is approximately 8,000 hours.
