This exquisite wedding carpet is a testament to the artistry and tradition of Lavar, a town near the city of Kerman. Finely woven and richly colored, the rug features a hexagonal design with alternating patterns, adorned with intricate depictions of over a hundred fruit trees. Among them are pomegranate, apple, pear, cherry, and peach trees, alongside detailed representations of wedding gifts such as candy and fruit baskets carried by caterers on their heads, supported by head cushions. Every detail vividly captures the elegance of a noble Persian family wedding ceremony.

It is believed that this rug was either commissioned by a local lord as a wedding gift for the bride’s family or woven by the bride herself to commemorate a significant day in her life.

Crafted from hand-spun wool and dyed using organic, vegetarian-friendly materials, the artists employed natural elements like apple and onion skins for pea greens, indigo for various shades of blue, pomegranate and beet skins for reds, and other ingredients like saffron, fig leaves, sunflower hues, and seashells for additional tones.

The rug’s pile is evenly low, with a few professional restorations completed. Both the ends and sides remain original, and its overall condition is excellent considering its age.
