Very interesting Heriz Carpet, showcasing a hunting field with two woven motifs of the king hunting a buffalo and four knotted patterns of lion hunting a deer. The combination of this design with a traditional Heriz medallion in the center, surrounded by flowers, the tree of life, and other ornaments creates an amazing story. The background is an orange/red field, framed with an ivory border and a brown guard border. Also notice the two beautiful columns on each side of the medallion.
Despite its age, this Heriz carpet is in very good condition, with no restoration and full pile. Though it unusual for a Heriz carpet, the weaver has used wool material for construction of the foundation. All sides and ends are original and knots are very tough which makes this rug a good fit for heavy traffic areas. Estimated time to hand knot this rug is about 2300 hours!
