An exceptionally rare Perepedil rug from the Kuba district, handwoven in the Eastern Caucasus, this piece exemplifies remarkable craftsmanship. The tightly woven design features nine striking ram's horns (wurma) arranged across a rich, deep indigo-blue field, each separated by vibrant red flowers. Surrounding each wurma are four animals, their bushy tails possibly symbolizing wolves. On either side of the blue field, eight additional sword-shaped wurmas point inward, enhancing the rug’s dynamic symmetry. The main border is adorned with an exquisitely detailed 'Kufic' chain pattern, adding a refined architectural touch.

Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, this Caucasian rug showcases an extraordinary harmony of colors, achieved through the use of pure, radiant, natural dyes. Among these, the treasured "Armenian red" stands out, derived from a blend of flowers, roots, leaves, and fruit rinds. Soft yellow hues emerge from adonis and fig leaves, while pea-green and ivory shades are drawn from onion and apple skins. Rich oak-brown tones come from nutshells, and a spectrum of blues — from deep to sky blue — is crafted using indigo.

This remarkable carpet is a brilliant testament to the vibrant, artistic weaving traditions of the Caucasus Mountains, blending symbolic design, masterful technique, and a palette of nature’s finest colors.
